In July, I posted a list of resolutions (7, actually.) How'd I do on them?
Finally, there was a 7th, not really called out goal:
But overall, did I succeed in making myself happier? The answer is yes--exercise, creativity, and healthy eating helped make me a better person. (Shocking, when you do what science says makes you happier... you are happier!)
It was not all sunshine and roses, though. I got pretty sick for a week in September, and we moved houses! So that threw me off of my healthy habits for a bit.
Which is why October is ripe for a new goals post... Coming up next!
1. Only bike to work.Didn't manage it, but I averaged about 2 times a week. A net improvement.
2. Eat everything in the fridgeHonestly don't recall how I did.
3. Start eating Zoodles for lunch (Until I'm sick of the word Zoodle!)Did an alright job--Buying premade pesto makes this easy!
4. Continue strength training (cardio bunny with strongman arms!)Went off the wagon here. Lesson learned: I learn best with an instructor to please. There's an element of external motivation there that draws the best out of me, whereas heading into the gym (even with a written plan!) just isn't the same. Worth the money for a class.
5. Learn to draw!Did it! Took my drawing class, had a ball. Again, setting aside the time seems to be the key here. Only regret is not setting aside more practice time.
6. Wake up at 5:30AM.Didn't happen--the problem is bed is too comfy and I like snuggling with the SO in the morning. Compromising and trying to get up at 6:30 instead, which still achieves the goal of beating traffic in. (This may change with my new open office plan-- morning is quiet and the best time to do work. )
Finally, there was a 7th, not really called out goal:
Checkin midway through the month.Obviously didn't do that! Lesson learned: setup a calendar reminder to update the blog.
