October Goals Followup 1

It's been a busy month already!

Updates on the goals:

Couch to 5K-- with a faster run speed as the goal!
Been back at my exercise classes on the regular--so going to add running Monday and Wednesday to help.  :)

Homemade meals for work every day.  (No cheating with the free pizza on Fridays, either!)
I cheated with the free pizza, but otherwise resisted all temptations to buy food at work.  Progress!  Next week no cheat pizza!

Finish a knitted hat.
Halfway through one already!  Might aim for two hats done this month!

Upholster the couch and chair.
Working on the hidden button placket now for the couch.  This will probably take me a good solid weekend's worth of work.

Quit Reddit.
The hardest item on the list, I swear!  I've resisted, but the urge to jump back in is strong--especially when bad political news comes out.  But I remind myself that worrying about bad politics doesn't change them--just acknowledge the bad and remember when the elections come up.

End Of September - How'd it go?

In July, I posted a list of resolutions (7, actually.)  How'd I do on them? 1. Only bike to work. Didn't manage it, but I averaged about 2 times a week.  A net improvement. 2. Eat everything in the fridge Honestly don't recall how I did. 3. Start eating Zoodles for lunch (Until I'm sick of the word Zoodle!) Did an alright job--Buying premade pesto makes this easy! 4. Continue strength training (cardio bunny with strongman arms!) Went off the wagon here.  Lesson learned: I learn best with an instructor to please.  There's an element of external motivation there that draws the best out of me, whereas heading into the gym (even with a written plan!) just isn't the same.  Worth the money for a class. 5. Learn to draw! Did it!  Took my drawing class, had a ball.  Again, setting aside the time seems to be the key here.  Only regret is not setting aside more practice time. 6. Wake up at 5:30AM. Didn't happen--the problem is bed is too ...

July Goals

Some goals for the month: 1. Only bike to work. 2. Eat everything in the fridge 3. Start eating Zoodles for lunch (Until I'm sick of the word Zoodle!) 4. Continue strength training (cardio bunny with strongman arms!) 5. Learn to draw! 6. Wake up at 5:30AM. For 1:  The weather should be good this month, and I'm not anticipating needing to give lifts too often.  I have a rear rack pack for my bike now, so clothing transport should be easy. On 2, I'm trying to be better about meal planning.  Fresh veggies are my enemy so far on keeping things fresh.  We're also not using our fancy cheese fast enough to warrant the amount we have.  Smaller quantities that we actually use are better. Related is 3, I bought a unitasker and  by god I'm going to use it.  (But it is a tasty unitasker.)  Trying to eat healthier lunches made at home. For 4, looked up some Pintarest routines.   Seem similar to the ones Becca was teaching, so 30 min after w...

Introduction

Have you ever woken up on a fine, misty morning?  Have you ever sat up and seen the sun filter through the wisps, and wondered, "Wow!  I wish my life was like this moment all the time?"  An then you get up, make a cup of coffee, bundle up in a warm jacket, and sit outside on the cement just watching the sunrise. I have, but not as often as I'd like.  And I'd like to change that. So this is not an introduction to my life story.  It's a mission statement.   Here's the plan: Maximize long term happiness by identifying things I like doing and doing more of them, and removing things I don't like doing (or transforming them.) Bleck!  That's not actionable!  Make it actionable! Identifying things I like doing and doing more of them = Try out lots of hobbies, produce cool stuff, and learn new skills.  I'm talking learning to draw, knitting sweaters, and hiking mountains! Removing things I don't like (or transforming them) = Getting be...
